WWE SmackDown Live Results – February 21 2017

Welcome one and all to another episode of SmackDown Live! Tonight’s show is to be headlined by a number one contender’s Battle Royale to decide on Bray Wyatt’s WrestleMania opponent.

Last week, Randy Orton threw a spanner in the works after Wyatt retained his WWE Championship, when he announced that he would not face Bray at WrestleMania. Is Randy serious? Or will he turn on Bray at a later date? Regardless, it certainly makes for a more interesting story and hopefully leads somewhere less predictable than Randy simply turning on Bray, taking the title, and leaving the saviour looking foolish yet again. So Dean Ambrose, John Cena, AJ Styles, The Miz, Baron Corbin, Luke Harper, Dolph Ziggler, Kalisto, Apollo Crews, and Mojo Rawley, are the combatants in the Battle Royale tonight. Who stands the best chance of winning? My guess is AJ Styles as he, as of now, does not have a WrestleMania opponent like everyone else. Although Luke Harper would certainly be the most interesting winner, given his history with Bray. That could set-up an all-Wyatt Triple Threat at WrestleMania.

Elsewhere Natalya takes on Nikki Bella in a Falls Count Anywhere match. This rivalry has long past its sell-by date and it is time for it to end. Thankfully, the stipulation on the match will hopefully lead to a fun encounter that is an end-cap on the  soap opera feud. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Maryse interfere and cost Nikki the match, given that Bella ruined her dress at Elimination Chamber.

On top of those two matches, WWE has also been teasing a rematch between Naomi and Alexa Bliss, potentially for the Women’s Championship. That’s all of the announced matches for tonight’s edition of SmackDown Live but we’re sure to also see Becky Lynch, Mickie James, American Alpha and more. Are you excited for tonight’s show?
